A popular Vermont brewery is bringing its charitable beer program to Rhode Island for the first time, with proceeds from a new IPA benefiting the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
Lawson’s Finest Liquids, the Waitsfield-based makers of the well-known Sip of Sunshine beer, released Cosmic Shift IPA (6.2% ABV) on Monday as part of their “Good Brew for a Cause” initiative. The B Corp Certified brewery will donate a portion of the proceeds from every can sold in Rhode Island to the state’s Community Food Bank.
“Cosmic Shift is something truly special,” said Adeline Druart, CEO of Lawson’s Finest Liquids. “It captures everything we love about hops–bold, juicy, expressive flavor and aroma–and channels it into something even bigger.”
The new beer marks the first time Lawson’s charitable program has expanded beyond Vermont, now supporting 10 nonprofits across nine states with help from distribution partners.
Kelly Seigh, the Food Bank’s Director of Corporate and Community Relations, expressed gratitude for the partnership. “This is such a creative way to engage the community while having such an impact, helping us to distribute healthy, nutritious food to those who need it most,” she said.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank serves as the central hub for food distribution across the state, working through a network of agencies to eliminate hunger. The organization operates through donations, federal programs, and community partnerships to ensure nutritious food reaches those in need.
Adding to the local impact, Atlantic Beverage Distributors, which distributes Lawson’s beers in Rhode Island, will match the brewery’s donations to the Food Bank.
Lawson’s Finest Liquids has made community support a cornerstone of its business model through its Social Impact Program (The SIP). Since 2018, the program has donated more than $2.5 million to over 400 nonprofit organizations.
The brewery, founded by Sean and Karen Lawson, began as a home-based operation in 2008 and has grown to distribute across 13 states. In 2018, the company opened a destination brewery, taproom, and retail store in Vermont’s Mad River Valley.
Cosmic Shift IPA is described as a “juicy, hop-forward” brew that follows the company’s signature Cold Stored, Cold Shipped, Cold Shelved approach to maintain freshness.
