Revka Hovermale and Dance Workshop participants

The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County has chosen Revka Hovermale of Revka Dance as its 2025 Artist Award recipient.

The yearly award will back RevkaDance Creative Movement Children’s Workshop, helping more students access arts education.

Hovermale, with a BA in Arts and Science from Rhode Island College, specializes in Dance Performance and Theater. She’s been teaching various art forms since 2001, including dance, creative movement, mindfulness, music, and theater.

The alliance plans to recognize Hovermale and other award and scholarship winners at its annual Raise Up the Arts event on June 25. The celebration is set for 6-8 p.m. at Johnny’s Restaurant in the Wyndham Hotel, Middletown, R.I.

Ryan Belmore is the owner and publisher of What's Up Newp. He took over the publication in 2012 and has grown it into a three-time Rhode Island Monthly Best Local News Blog (2018, 2019, 2020).
