Norman Bird Sanctuary invites children, families, and animal lovers for the special opportunity to meet a unique group of animals up close and personal on Sunday, March 5th, at the “Meet the Animal Ambassadors” public program.
This one-of-a-kind program allows attendees of all ages to learn from, observe, and sometimes even touch fascinating live animals such as Rosie the red-eared slider turtle, Hamlet the hognose snake, or Rodney the dumbo rat. Other Animal Ambassadors under Norman Bird Sanctuary’s care include a barred owl, two red-tailed hawks, rabbits, rats, turtles, snakes, amphibians, and a collection of insects and invertebrates.
The Animal Ambassadors, many of whom are recognized by name by local children, play a lead role in Norman Bird Sanctuary’s educational mission to help school children and community members of all ages to learn about animal physiology and build awareness of the wildlife native to their local environment. Programs such as these are designed to directly support the long-term care, feeding and enrichment of these non-releasable animals.
In addition to the animal presentation, NBS educators will also be taking questions and discussing ways for you to help protect and preserve the habitats crucial to local wildlife.
