Frank Black, the Pixies frontman, is bringing his solo acoustic show to The JPT Film & Event Center in Newport. The performance is set for December 7 at 8 p.m. Fans can grab tickets starting November 1 at 10 a.m., with prices ranging from $59 to $79. They’re available through JanePickens.com or by calling 1-800-657-8774.
The show lines up with the 30th anniversary of Black’s solo album, “Teenager Of The Year.” To mark this milestone, 4AD is putting out a special vinyl edition on January 17.
This 30th Anniversary Tour Edition is getting the royal treatment. It’s been remastered from the original analog studio tapes and will be pressed on double gold vinyl, cut at 45 rpm for the best sound quality. The album comes in a gatefold sleeve with liner notes from Black and producer Eric Drew Feldman.
Black isn’t stopping there. He’s hitting the road with his original band for a tour across North America, Paris, and London, playing the entire album. It’s a celebration three decades in the making, honoring the album’s initial May 1994 release.
“Teenager Of The Year” came hot on the heels of Black’s self-titled solo debut, just a year later. He teamed up with Eric Drew Feldman to create it during a prolific songwriting period, right when the Pixies were taking a breather.
For those who prefer digital, a 24-bit remastered version of the album is also dropping on January 17.
