To the Editor-
Over the past 3 years, I have worked in close proximity to State Representative Lauren Carson on issues concerning Newport’s waterfront. I am consistently impressed by her work ethic and how diligent she is in responding to the needs of our island community. She passed the bill to raise cruise ship passenger fees which brought major dollars to the city’s Enterprise Fund which is used exclusively on projects to maintain and improve the public’s use of the waterfront and its access. I have witnessed her in action on Capitol Hill where the respect for her by her peers is evident. Newport County is lucky to have her advocacy, which is all the more important as we continue to face a multitude of growing pains.
I don’t often share my views in a public forum, but this election, on every level, is crucial. I would ask my neighbors and fellow Newporters to do the research and vote to keep Lauren Carson fighting for the good of our waterfront.
