The Middletown Town Council met on Monday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

Councilor Emily Tessier was absent from the meeting.

The council first voted to reactivate the town’s Tax Exploration Subcommittee. The move comes after a presentation on Revaluation 2024 from Vision Government Solutions.

The council then formally signed on with Gov. Dan McKee’s “Keep Rhody Litter Free” campaign. The town joined the effort to promote the program at Middletown High School last month.

The council also approved a contract with the BETA Group for design services to improve the look of Dunlap-Wheeler Park. The town plans to use money from the Tax Increment Financing program to pay for the lower Aquidneck Avenue work.

The Council continued public hearings on a proposal to impose term limits on elected town offices and additional hours for the Starbucks Coffee cafe at 99 East Main Road. The town has extended the public hearing period through May 20 because of audio issues with online watchers.
