Newport residents will have the opportunity to attend a meeting with State Representative Lauren Carson (D. Dist. 75, Newport) on March 4th, 2024, where she will present the results of an annual survey.
The meeting will occur from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Friends Room at The Newport Public Library, located at 300 Spring St.
“I am honored to represent my constituents at the Rhode Island State House and want to accurately represent their interests,” Rep. Carson says in a press release. “I enjoy speaking with people throughout the year and feel that I have a good understanding of the issues and viewpoints of those I represent; this annual survey is a good confirmation that I am representing The City by the Sea in the ways that best align with our Newport values. I hope you will join me as I present the findings of the survey and how they tie in to my current legislative initiatives, as well as the two statewide study commissions I am chairing on Aging and Short Term Rentals”.
The survey covered a wide range of issues, including the environment, public education, the impact the Newport Bridge re-alignment has had on Newport businesses, short-term rentals, and aging in place – among other topics, according to Rep. Carson.
The survey was made public through SurveyMonkey and was open from January 23 to February 9. It was distributed via local media, email, and on the Representative’s website.
