IYRS School of Technology & Trades invites the local community to visit the school on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00am for Graduation & Launch Day, an annual Newport tradition like no other and one of the most celebrated day for the IYRS & the Newport, RI communities.
Similar to a traditional university commencement, but with their own IYRS twist, they invite you to join them in celebrating the accomplishments of IYRS’ Boatbuilding & Restoration, Composites Technology, Digital Modeling & Fabrication, and Marine Systems students who head off into the workforce as highly talented craftspeople, makers, designers, and technicians.
World-class sailor, author, motivational speaker, and TV commentator Mr. Gary Jobson will be the featured speaker at the event.
Student projects from all four accredited programs, including the Marine Systems, Composites Technology, and the Digital Modeling & Fabrication program will be on display and celebrated.
Following the speaking portion of the event, beautifully restored wooden sailboats will be launched into the Harbor as friends, family and the general public celebrate the completion of the Boatbuilding & Restoration student projects.
