The Rhode Island Lottery closed out June with two big winners, including a Portsmouth woman who claimed a $40,000 Mega Millions prize and a Coventry woman who won $22,500 playing Keno Plus.

The Portsmouth winner, a frequent Mega Millions player, said she was shocked when her ticket matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball in the June 26 drawing for a base prize of $10,000, which quadrupled to $40,000 thanks to a randomly generated 4X multiplier. She plans to use the winnings to pay bills. The winning ticket was purchased at the Stop & Shop at 1360 West Main Road in Middletown.

The Coventry winner matched seven of seven spots on a $1 Keno Plus wager for a base prize of $4,500. She doubled her wager and added the Keno Plus feature, and when the 5X multiplier was drawn, her winnings grew to $22,500. She plans to put the money in the bank, saying, “I’m going to retire someday.” The winning ticket was sold at The Woods Tavern, 45 Nooseneck Hill Road in West Greenwich.

The June 26 Mega Millions drawing also generated six other prizes ranging from $600 to $2,000 across Rhode Island. The estimated jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing is $511 million.

Since April 2025, Mega Millions has included a randomly generated built-in multiplier on every play, automatically increasing all non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Non-jackpot prizes range from $10 up to $10 million.
