The precautionary boil water notice issued last week to Stone Bridge Fire District customers has been lifted, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced.

The advisory was issued April 24 after a water main break threatened to cause a loss of pressure across multiple areas of the system. The Stone Bridge Fire District, which serves customers in Tiverton, has since repaired the break, temporarily increased chlorine levels in the system within safe limits, flushed the water mains and collected bacteria samples that came back clean, according to RIDOH.

Customers with lingering questions about the advisory should consult the notice provided by their water supply officials. Additional guidance is available on the RIDOH Center for Drinking Water Quality website at health.ri.gov/water/for/consumersduringemergency, under the section titled “What You Should Do Following Boil Water Advisories and Precautionary Boil Water Advisories.”

Food establishments, businesses, schools and health care facilities can find specific post-advisory instructions through RIDOH at health.ri.gov/publications/instructions/FoodServiceBoilWater.pdf and health.ri.gov/publications/instructions/SchoolsBusinessHealthcareFacilitiesPostBoilWater.pdf.

Customers with additional questions can contact the Stone Bridge Fire District at 508-676-3526.
