Portsmouth and Rogers high school cheerleading teams competed Saturday at the Rhode Island Cheerleading Coaches Association Championship, held at La Salle Academy.

Portsmouth competed in Division 3, finishing second. Ponaganset took first place in the division, with Johnston placing third.

In other divisional results, La Salle Academy won Division 1, Barrington took first in Division 2 and AF Providence claimed the Division 4 title. West Warwick won the overall RICCA Championship standings. Portsmouth finished 10th overall.

Despite the competitive field, both local programs earned individual recognition. Portsmouth’s Kiley Wordell and Rogers’ Jaz’Myne King each received the spirit award for their respective teams following the competition.
