There’s something about the first weekend of spring in Rhode Island that just feels like a reset. Longer days, a bit more light in the air, and for many buyers and sellers, a renewed sense of momentum. We have seen it so far. Open houses that we have hosted have been BUSY. After a long winter, this is when the market begins to open up again, and there’s no better way to tap into that than by spending time at local open houses and touring available homes. 

Open houses remain one of the most valuable and accessible ways to experience the market in real time. You’re not just looking at photos or scrolling listings, you’re walking through homes, understanding layout and flow, getting a feel for neighborhoods, and seeing firsthand how properties are positioned. For many consumers, it’s an opportunity to refine what you want. For sellers, it’s a reminder of how important presentation, pricing, and exposure truly are.

This weekend in particular, there’s a noticeable amount of activity across Aquidneck Island and the surrounding communities. Inventory is still tight, but we’re beginning to see more homes come to market, and the first day of spring always brings a sense of promise that more is on the way. That balance of limited supply and active demand is exactly what creates opportunity if you approach it the right way.  My recent ‘What Sold’ article highlights that activity across all price points. 

And the timing couldn’t be better. With temperatures pushing into the 50s and a mix of sun, it’s a great weekend to get out, explore different areas, and take in a number of properties in one day. March in Rhode Island can be unpredictable, but longer daylight hours and improving conditions make it one of the best times to re-engage with the market.

We’ll be part of that activity this weekend, hosting open houses at 67 Fairview Lane in Portsmouth on both Saturday and Sunday from 11:00AM-12:30PM. This is a 2012-built Colonial set on 1.24 acres just off East Main Road, tucked behind St. Barnabas Church. It offers a great combination of privacy, usable land, and a layout that fits how people actually live today. Open-concept first floor, a strong bedroom count, and move-in ready condition in a location where inventory under $1M is increasingly hard to come by.
