The Newport Rhode Races will return to the City by the Sea on Saturday, April 18, with all race distances sold out and thousands of runners expected to descend on Newport for the event’s 10th anniversary.

The race features a marathon, half marathon and 5K, with all events beginning and ending at Easton’s Beach. Runners from 48 states and seven countries are registered to participate.

The event first launched in 2016 and has grown into one of New England’s premier spring running events, welcoming tens of thousands of runners to Newport over the past decade.

Participants will run through some of Newport’s most iconic areas, including scenic coastal roads, historic neighborhoods and areas near the mansions along Bellevue Avenue. The races also coincide with Newport’s annual Daffodil Days celebration, when more than one million daffodils bloom throughout the city.

“The Newport Rhode Races is the kickoff to our race season and one of the most beautiful courses in the country,” said Courtney Moody, director of communications for Rhode Races & Events.

Roads along portions of the course may experience temporary traffic impacts between approximately 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Newport and Middletown police will assist with traffic management.

Spectators are encouraged to cheer on participants along the course or near the finish line at Easton’s Beach.
