Newport Contemporary Ballet is heading to the Keats Theatre this month with two productions: a world premiere contemporary ballet program and a returning family favorite.
The company presents Polygon March 13-15 and Are The Crayons Quitting? March 14-15.
Polygon features world premiere works by three choreographers — DaYoung Jung, rehearsal director of Oklahoma City Ballet; Deanna Gerde, a former NCB dancer; and Danielle Genest, NCB’s artistic director. The company describes the program as a celebration of “various perspectives that meet to create an elaborate and beautiful whole.”
Polygon runs March 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and March 15 at 3 p.m. Tickets range from $32 to $58.
Are The Crayons Quitting? is back by popular demand. The original ballet is adapted from Drew Daywalt’s children’s book, “The Day The Crayons Quit,” which spent more than a year at No. 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list and has earned more than 60 national and international awards. Rhode Island artists, composers and designers collaborated with Genest on the production.
Are The Crayons Quitting? runs March 14 at 4 p.m. and March 15 at 1 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $42.
Both shows take place at Keats Theatre in Barrington. For tickets and more information, visit newportcontemporaryballet.org.
