Three Olympic gold medalists will take the field at St. George’s School this spring for the 2nd Annual Food Allergy-Friendly Soccer Clinic, a fundraiser supporting efforts to expand epinephrine access across Newport County.

Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tisha Venturini Hoch — World Cup champions, Hall of Famers and three of the most celebrated names in the history of women’s soccer — will lead three hours of elite soccer training for children ages 5 to 16 on Sunday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at St. George’s School, 372 Purgatory Road. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The clinic is open to all skill levels, including beginners. Tickets are $150 per child.

Each participant will receive a Nike soccer ball, a Nike t-shirt, an autographed player card and a photo with the coaches. A meet-and-greet and autograph signing will also be held.

The event is organized by Red Sneakers for Oakley, a nonprofit dedicated to food allergy education, awareness and safety, in partnership with Team First Soccer Academy and St. George’s School. The clinic is designed to be fully food allergy-friendly, with on-site allergy education, a strict no-food policy and top-nine allergen-free snacks provided after the event.

Executive Director Lindsey Spangler said the clinic is timed ahead of International Red Sneakers Day on May 20 and as a celebration of the upcoming World Cup in the United States. Proceeds beyond the cost of the event will support Red Sneakers for Oakley’s Epi Everywhere initiative, which works to expand access to emergency epinephrine and life-saving training in communities nationwide. The organization’s local goal is to make Newport one of the country’s first truly allergy-friendly cities.

The event is free to attend as a spectator. To register or learn more, visit redsneakers.org/soccer-clinic or email info@redsneakers.org.
