Vivian J. Viti, 81, of Newport, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at home in Newport, RI. She was born in Newport on October 7, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Dominic L. Pennachi and Jeannette Clement Pennachi.
Vivian was a one-of-a-kind mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had an amazing eye for make-up, fashion, thrifting, and antiquing, cultivating a style that was truly all her own, and always impressive. Her ability to find hidden gems among the rough was only rivaled by her amazing breadth of culinary knowledge, which she enjoyed practicing and lavishing upon her family whenever the opportunity arose.
When she wasn’t cooking herself, she could often be found leafing through one of hundreds of cookbooks that lined the walls of an entire room, in a collection obtained over decades of expanding her skill, a skill her son and grandson both inherited.
Vivian was also a talented artist, having attended The Art Association in her youth, and maintained a love of visual arts she passed on to her daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra F. Towson, of Apex, NC, her son, Philip J. Oliveira, her son, Dominic J. Oliveira, her grandson, Mason Oliveira, her grandson, Zachary Oliveira of Cleveland, OH, her granddaughter, Maia R. Silvia, and her great-granddaughter, Aeva C. Pecorella, both of Raleigh, NC. She was the sister of the late George L. Pennachi of Kissimmee, FL.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
