Rogers High School erased a 10-point halftime deficit Friday night, outscoring East Providence 25-12 in the second half to secure a 42-39 victory in a physical Division II matchup.

Zaida Aponte led all scorers with 15 points for the Vikings, including 11 in the first half. Tamera Robertson added 8 points, with 6 coming in the second half as Rogers mounted its comeback.

The Vikings jumped out to a 13-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Townies responded with a dominant second period to take a 27-17 advantage into the break.

The third quarter proved pivotal as Rogers clamped down defensively while chipping away at the lead. The Vikings carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, completing the comeback behind Aponte and Robertson.

Zarae Hall paced East Providence with 11 points in the losing effort.

Rogers will look to build on the victory as Division II play continues.
