Portsmouth’s indoor track and field team turned in a strong performance Monday at Providence Career & Technical Academy, with several Patriots capturing first-place finishes in a dual meet against Rhode Island competition.

Lucy Tate led the way for Portsmouth on the girls side, winning the long jump with a mark of 17-05.75 (5.32 meters).

On the boys side, Sean Gray took first in the 3000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 9:04.09. Patrick Orbon added another victory for the Patriots, winning the 1500-meter run in 4:32.86. Henry Schmidt also posted a strong result, finishing second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:33.68.

Middletown did not compete in the meet due to injuries.
