(MLK Center)

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center will hold its Keeper of the Dream & Annual Meeting celebration on Monday, Jan. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event, presented by Corrigan Financial, Inc. and Savant Wealth Management, will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

During the event, the center will report on successes and challenges of the last year, announce transitions on the Board of Trustees, celebrate staff milestones and honor this year’s Keeper of the Dream awardees.

Jerry Kirby will receive the Keeper of the Dream award, Citizens Bank – Washington Square will be honored as Community Partner, and Ginny Gilman will receive the Content of Character award.

“This is a beloved community event we look forward to all year. It’s an opportunity for us to honor some very special people and celebrate our wonderful community who makes our work possible,” said Heather Hole Strout, executive director of the MLK Community Center. “Coming together on the birthday of Dr. King to celebrate the work we do in his name makes the event feel extra special this year.”

The event will be held at the MLK Community Center, 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., starting promptly at 5 p.m. Guests should use the Edward Street entrance. After the speaking portion of the evening, guests will enjoy refreshments.

The event is free and open to all, but space is limited, and registration is required by Jan. 12. To register, visit eventbrite.com/e/1977509939462.

Founded in 1922 and renamed after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, the MLK Community Center celebrated 100 years of service in 2022. Last year, the center helped over 8,700 people, the most in its history.
