Adam Conheeny was honored at halftime of Monday’s game against North Kingstown after becoming Portsmouth High School’s all-time leading scorer in boys basketball.

The senior guard surpassed Benny Hurd’s school record of 1,325 points, set during Hurd’s career from 2018 to 2022. Hurd had previously eclipsed Neal Wesson’s mark of 1,281 points on Feb. 14, 2022.

Athletic Director Christopher Cobain and head coach Sean Casey presented Conheeny with a commemorative basketball during the ceremony.

“Adam has surpassed 1,325 points and will continue to rewrite the all-time leading scorer record book for the remainder of his senior year,” Cobain said during the halftime presentation. “At that time we will decorate the commemorative basketball with the final results.”

Conheeny still has the rest of his senior season to add to his total before the Patriots’ season concludes.
