Mollie Frazer Williams, Executive Director, Small Business Collective (People's Credit Union)

A new nonprofit aimed at supporting small business owners has launched in Rhode Island.

Small Business Collective, based in Middletown, will offer collaborative workspace, community events and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs across the state, according to an announcement Tuesday.

Mollie Frazer Williams has been named executive director of the organization. She previously served as director of innovation and entrepreneurship at the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce, where she created programs including the Founders Dinners, the Innovation Crawl and Blue Tech Talks at Innovate Newport.

“Small businesses are the heart of our communities,” Williams said. “SBC is about more than workspace – it’s about cultivating a culture of connection and collaboration so that entrepreneurs of all backgrounds don’t have to do it alone.”

Small Business Collective launched as an initiative of People’s Credit Union, which is providing initial support. The organization’s long-term goal is to become fully self-sustaining.

“By bringing together entrepreneurs and purpose-aligned partners, SBC will serve as a catalyst for inclusive economic development across Rhode Island,” said Sean Daly, head of People’s Credit Union.

The nonprofit is currently welcoming its first members and developing programming. Those interested can visit sbc-ri.org or email info@sbc-ri.org.
