The results are in for the 2025 Christmas In Newport Doorway Competition, and Newport residents and businesses have once again transformed the City by the Sea into a winter wonderland of decorated entryways.
Discover Newport announced the winners this week, with 47 Poplar Street claiming the coveted Grand Prize for its standout holiday display.
The annual competition invites homeowners and businesses to deck their doors with boughs of holly, evergreen wreaths, and twinkling lights in celebration of the holiday season. Participants registered their properties by noon on Wednesday, December 10, with judging beginning on Friday, December 12.
In the Residential category, 90 Middleton Avenue earned first place, followed by 69 Third Street in second. Third place resulted in a tie between 50 Catherine Street and 77 Memorial Boulevard.
Commercial honors went to Royal Male at 104 Spring Street, with Meeka Fine Jewelry at 33 Franklin Street taking second place.
The Restaurant category saw Clarke Cooke House at 24 Bannister’s Wharf take the top spot, while the Hotel/B&B category was won by Gardiner House at 24 Lee’s Wharf. Newport Harbor Island Resort on Goat Island placed second, and Forty 1 North at 351 Thames Street rounded out the category in third.
Judges also recognized several properties with Honorable Mentions: 46 John Street, 24 Mill Street, 20 White Street, 31 Poplar Street, and 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard.
The Holiday Doorway Competition is part of Newport’s broader Christmas In Newport celebrations and encourages visitors and locals alike to stroll through the city’s historic neighborhoods to take in the festive displays.
