Lucy’s Hearth will host a pair of fundraising events on Saturday to support families experiencing homelessness, beginning with its annual Designer Wreath Sale and followed by a benefit concert featuring local musicians.

The wreath sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rotunda at Easton’s Beach, 175 Memorial Blvd. The event features handcrafted holiday wreaths made by local artists, gardeners and volunteers, with all proceeds benefiting the organization.

Lucy’s Hearth operates a 24-hour emergency and transitional shelter in Newport County, providing children and families experiencing homelessness with housing and support services.

In the afternoon, the community is invited to ShelterStock, a holiday benefit concert at Newport Playhouse, 102 Connell Hwy., from 2 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person, with proceeds supporting both Lucy’s Hearth and McKinney Shelter.

The concert will feature performances by Rowan & Beautifully Human, Judy ‘N’ Deez Guys, Barfly and 3 Legged Dog.

This year’s event holds special significance as four guitars belonging to the late Julio Amaro will be auctioned and raffled, with proceeds going to Lucy’s Hearth. Amaro, a longtime supporter of efforts to help families experiencing homelessness, was a beloved figure in Newport’s music community before his death in 2023. His family donated the instruments to continue his legacy of generosity.

“Families experiencing homelessness deserve more than temporary support, they deserve stability, dignity, and a path forward,” said Heather Bishop, director of Lucy’s Hearth. “These events are a powerful example of what happens when a community refuses to look away and instead chooses to stand with its neighbors.”

Family Service of Rhode Island provides management support for Lucy’s Hearth’s operations, finance and administrative functions.
