East Bay opened its home schedule in emphatic fashion Sunday night at Portsmouth Abbey, jumping out to a commanding early lead en route to a 9-4 win over Greater Cranston Co-Op.
The home team wasted no time setting the tone, pouring in five goals in the opening period to take a 5-1 advantage. East Bay continued its offensive onslaught in the second, adding three more goals to extend the lead to 8-1 heading into the final frame.
Greater Cranston showed fight in the third period, scoring three goals, but the deficit proved too steep to overcome.
Zoe Kelsey, Addy M and May Waluk each found the back of the net twice to lead East Bay’s balanced attack. Ruby Turgeon anchored the playmaking with a team-high three assists.
Sonja Vaage, Audrey May and Sydney Olson also scored for East Bay, which dominated possession throughout the contest, outshooting Greater Cranston 39-15.
