YANA of Newport County will partner with the Rhode Island Public Defender’s Office to offer a free expungement clinic for individuals seeking to clear their criminal records.

The clinic will be held on Thursday, December 4, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at YANA’s clubhouse, located at 770 Aquidneck Avenue.

Expert legal advisors will meet one-on-one with job seekers and individuals who have misdemeanor or felony records to determine eligibility for expungement. The service is available to Newport County residents and YANA members.

Space is limited, and appointments will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested can sign up by sending a confidential email to Expungementatyana@gmail.com.

YANA — short for You Are Not Alone — is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides a safe and welcoming meeting space for individuals and families impacted by addiction. Founded in 2021, the organization has grown from a small group seeking healing through 12-step programs into a community hub offering daily meetings, peer support and access to resources.

The organization’s clubhouse has served as a gathering place for residents and visitors on Aquidneck Island for four years. YANA is funded primarily through private donations, club rental fees and member dues.
