To The Editor:
The federal government shutdown is affecting people right here in Middletown.
Many of our neighbors are facing real challenges — from furloughed employees waiting on paychecks to families and seniors coping with cuts to SNAP and other programs.
These are difficult times, and the Town of Middletown wants residents to know we’re here to help.
Working with our community partners, we’ve made resources easy to find at mdl.town/Services. You’ll find information on food assistance, rent and heating help, and other support programs.
For direct help, contact Lori Turner, Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships, at lturner@middletownri.gov or 401-842-6599. Seniors can reach the Middletown Senior Center at akaull@middletownri.gov or 401-849-8823, and families in our schools can contact Megan Mainzer at mmainzer@mpsri.net or 401-849-2122.
If you’re organizing food drives or collecting donations, please let us know so we can help share your efforts and connect you with others. And if you can, check in on your neighbors — a small act of kindness can mean a lot.
Middletown has always pulled together in tough times. We’ll get through this the same way — together.
