Molly Dickinson has been awarded Best in Show at the Jamestown Arts Center Members’ Show for her painting “Windfall (Primal Places),” an acrylic and oil work on birch panel.
Judge Michael Rose, gallery manager at the Providence Art Club and founder of New England Art News, selected Dickinson’s piece from submissions by 150 artists.
“It’s a little roundel painting executed in acrylic on a birch panel, and it’s of a beautiful dappled light in a forest,” Rose said. “I’ve seen pieces in this series and other series like this by Molly and I’ve always thought they were so appealing and so beautiful.”
Rose noted that the Best in Show winner receives a future solo exhibition at the JAC. “Selfishly, my selection came from wanting to see more — wanting to see this whole series,” he said.
Annie LaVigne won second place for “Map of Wenning,” and Lisa Barsumian took third place for “Flexible Flyer.”
Honorable mentions were awarded to Tupelo Rose Clancy, Karin Gielen, Meag Hepp, Alina Puccio, Pamela Seymour Smith Sharp, Teddy Trocki-Ryba and Julia Wheatley.
The Members’ Show is the JAC’s annual celebration where first-time, emerging and established artists exhibit alongside one another.
In the small gallery, Margit Burmeister opened “assembled,” a solo exhibition awarded for her Best in Show win in the 2024 Members’ Show.
Both exhibitions are on view through Jan. 10 during regular gallery hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The JAC will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving. Exhibitions are free and open to all.
