The Community College of Rhode Island will host Cybersecurity Pathways and Practices, a free public event exploring real-world pathways into the growing field of cybersecurity, Wednesday at its Newport County Campus.
The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. at One John H. Chafee Blvd., will feature a panel of industry professionals sharing their personal journeys into cybersecurity and highlighting key entry points, critical skills and valuable certifications for those interested in joining the cyber workforce. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m.
Attendees will experience a live demonstration of CCRI’s state-of-the-art Cyber Range, a hands-on training environment that simulates real-world cyberattack scenarios. Following the panel, guests are encouraged to participate in interactive cybersecurity activities hosted by the CCRI Cybersecurity Club.
The Newport Area Career and Technical Center will also present an informational session for students and families interested in high school-level technology programs.
The event offers students, educators and community members an opportunity to connect directly with cybersecurity professionals, gain insight into the evolving cyber landscape and learn about the educational and technical skills needed to enter this high-demand field.
CCRI enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit-bearing degree and certificate programs and an additional 8,500 individuals in workforce development programs and adult education courses annually.
