Five restaurants in Newport and Jamestown will offer exclusive dining and tasting experiences as part of the 20th annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival, Sept. 18-21.

The participating establishments are taking reservations for one-time offerings Thursday through Saturday. The restaurants include 41° North – The Grill; Cara at The Chanler at Cliff Walk; Beech Restaurant in Jamestown; One Bellevue Restaurant at The Hotel Viking; and Brenton Hotel – The Rooftop.

BankNewport is the presenting sponsor of the festival’s Restaurant Experiences program.

“We began expanding the Wine & Food Festival into local restaurants in 2020, during the COVID pandemic, as a way to show support for this industry that’s so vital to Newport’s economy and lifestyle,” said Trudy Coxe, CEO and executive director of the Preservation Society of Newport County. “We are glad to continue these partnerships for the sixth consecutive year.”

The Preservation Society has hosted the festival since 2006.

The expansion into local restaurants began during the pandemic to support the hospitality industry. Last year’s festival featured 10 participating restaurants for its 19th anniversary, making this year’s lineup smaller but focused on premium dining experiences.

“BankNewport is pleased to partner with the Newport Mansions to present the Wine & Food Festival Restaurant Program again this year,” said BankNewport President & CEO Jack Murphy. “We’re proud to celebrate Newport’s world-class chefs and fine dining establishments through this inspiring series of wine and culinary events for our local community and visitors to enjoy.”

BankNewport is one of the Preservation Society’s longtime Partners in Preservation.

Celebrity chef highlights main festival

The main festival at Rosecliff and Marble House will feature internationally popular Chef Marcus Samuelsson in two events: the Vintner Dinner and “In Conversation with Chef Marcus Samuelsson.” Tickets remain available for both events.

The festival will include nearly two dozen hourlong tasting seminars exploring wines and spirits from around the world. Topics include wine regions and varietals, cognac, bourbon, tequila and Armagnac. Seminar tickets include access to the Tasting Tent, where festival vendors offer food, wine and spirit samples.

Last year’s festival featured chef Jacques Pépin as a special guest.
