Islanders’ offense explodes for six goals in high-scoring victory

TIVERTON — Middletown High School’s girls soccer team put on an offensive showcase Tuesday night, defeating Tiverton 6-2 in a high-scoring contest that saw the Islanders pull away for a convincing road victory.

Rebecca Audi led Middletown’s balanced attack with multiple goals, while teammates Ayla Green, Caitlin Morrill, Madeline Jones and others contributed to the six-goal outburst. Coach Rex Bridges’ squad controlled the pace of play and capitalized on numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match.

Tiverton showed fight despite the final margin, finding the back of the net twice against the Islanders. Coach Jim Gauch’s Tigers, assisted by Tommy Murray, generated some offensive pressure but couldn’t match Middletown’s firepower on this night.

The victory demonstrates Middletown’s offensive depth, with multiple players contributing goals in the comprehensive team win. Players like Katherine Chisholm and the rest of the Islanders’ roster provided the balance needed to overwhelm Tiverton’s defense.

For Tiverton, the loss provides valuable experience as the Tigers continue to develop their system under coach Gauch. While the defensive effort will need improvement, the team’s ability to score twice shows promise for future matches.

Middletown’s explosive offensive performance gives them momentum as they advance through their schedule, with their ability to score from multiple sources proving to be a significant advantage.
