The Newport International Boat Show will feature expanded activities and educational programs when it returns to downtown Newport for its 54th year Sept. 11-14.

The show, presented by BankNewport, will span 17 acres at the Newport Yachting Center Marina and showcase 350 new sailboats and powerboats, including some making their U.S. debuts. This year’s event includes two additional acres of displays and a new brokerage basin featuring boats up to 100 feet.

“Every year our sponsors, partners and exhibitors continue to deliver an incredible experience,” said Jocelyn Emory, director of strategy for the Newport International Boat Show. “This year is no exception with activities, food and educational opportunities to entertain everyone.”

The show will feature several educational components, including the Cruisers’ Classroom presented by the Annapolis School of Seamanship. The free program offers presentations on topics such as anchoring, diesel basics, weather safety, navigation and boat maintenance.

Tech Talks at IYRS School of Technology & Trades will provide hands-on workshops on lithium batteries, diesel engines and gel coat repair on Saturday and Sunday. BoatClass, powered by Freedom Boat Club, offers 90-minute on-water training sessions with certified captains for $99. Sessions are offered daily at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The show will debut more than 40 new products and boats as part of its Newport for New Products Awards Program. Industry experts will judge entries on opening day, with winners announced Friday, Sept. 12.

The Windward VIP Lounge returns for its second year, offering guests premium dining, an open bar, private restrooms and waterfront views. VIP tickets cost $275 per day and must be purchased in advance.

Food options throughout the show include vendors such as Wally’s hot dogs, Castle Hill Inn, Newport Chowder Company and Smoke House. Onshore Brewing will serve coffee near the Hammetts entrance.

Transportation options include a complimentary shuttle from Easton’s Beach parking lot running 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. all four days. Water taxi service to the Newport Shipyard Brokerage Show operates from Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina.

Ticket prices range from $20 for Newport County residents and military families on Sunday to $42 for opening preview day Thursday. One-day general admission costs $32, while two-day passes range from $54 to $65. Children under 10 enter free with an adult.

The show generated $26.1 million in economic impact for the local economy in 2022, according to organizers.
