Portsmouth police arrested a Fall River, Massachusetts, man in connection with a series of vehicle-related thefts that occurred in December.

Clifton Dushevskyy, 32, of 725 2nd Street, Apartment #2, Fall River, was taken into custody July 15 following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division.

The charges stem from incidents during the week of Dec. 30, 2024, when police responded to multiple reports of larcenies from motor vehicles, motor vehicle theft and fraudulent credit card use throughout Portsmouth.

Victims reported stolen items including sunglasses, gift cards, cash, credit cards, keys, clothing, personal checks, medications, binoculars and DVDs. Several vehicles showed signs of tampering, police said.

The detective division’s investigation identified Dushevskyy as the primary suspect. Multiple arrest warrants were issued Jan. 3.

The Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs transferred Dushevskyy to Portsmouth police custody on July 15.

Dushevskyy was arraigned in Rhode Island’s 2nd Division District Court on charges including driving without the consent of the owner, three counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, four counts of injuring or tampering with vehicles, 13 counts of larceny and conspiracy.

Bail was set at $2,500 with surety.
