Patricia Wayland, age 87, formerly of Bristol and Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Patricia was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Whalen of Watertown, NY. She was the sister of one loving brother, Edward F. Whalen, now deceased of Rochester, NY.
Patricia is survived by three children, Michael Wayland (Jenny) of Linden, NC, Pamela Ryan (Thomas) of Taunton, Mass, and Catherine Wayland (John Hoffman) of Miami, FL. She is also survived by seven loving grandchildren: Michael Wayland, Victoria Barlow (Steve), Taylor Ryan, Gilian Ryan, Jackson Hoffman, and Brody Hoffman. She also leaves her great granddaughter Madeline Barlow.
Ms. Wayland graduated from Watertown High School in 1956. She then went on to complete education at The House of The Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1959. She worked for several years as a Registered Nurse, and she traveled extensively throughout Europe with her family during her lifetime. Patricia volunteered with adults who have special needs and found that very rewarding. Known affectionately as Patti, she found great joy in reading, cooking, baking, antiquing and needlepoint.
Services for Patricia Wayland will be held on Wednesday, July 30 with visitation from 9:00-10:00am and a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 398 Providence St, West Warwick, RI. Burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Watertown, NY.
