Charter Books is gearing up to host acclaimed author Michael Farris Smith for a book talk and live music event on June 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Smith, the writer behind “Salvage This World,” will be at the downtown bookstore at 8 Broadway to discuss his latest novel, “Lay Your Armor Down.”

This event is a great mix of literature and music, giving Newport locals and visitors a chance to enjoy some culture.

By bringing Smith to town, Charter Books is continuing its efforts to connect authors with the local community.

Whether you’re already a fan of Smith’s work or just curious about his latest book, this free event is open to everyone. It’s a great opportunity to hear about the author’s creative process and dive into the themes of his new novel.
