Greater Newport Chamber to host Politics & Pancakes with Representative Marvin Abney and Senator Louis P. DiPalma

The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its second quarterly Politics & Pancakes event on June 2. This gathering will bring Rhode Island legislators to the table to discuss state budget issues and policy priorities for the upcoming 2025 session.

Key speakers at the event include House Finance Chairman Marvin L. Abney and Senate Committee on Finance Chairman Louis P. DiPalma. They’ll be addressing the local business community in an event co-hosted with The Pell Center at Salve Regina University and sponsored by Bally’s Corporation.

The main goal? To give attendees a clearer picture of the budgetary process and policy issues that impact Newport’s business landscape.

“We are so appreciative that the two Finance Committee Chairmen are taking the time to join us for this Politics and Pancakes event to talk about budgetary priorities for fiscal year 2026.  We feel fortunate to have such wonderful General Assembly representation in our Region, with leaders who recognize the importance of meeting with the business community to share information about the budgetary process and some key policy issues we can expect to impact our community.” stated Erin Donovan-Boyle, President & CEO of the Greater Newport Chamber.

The Politics & Pancakes series is a regular fixture in Newport, bringing government officials and leaders to town for talks and panel discussions on topics that matter to local businesses. Throughout the year, the series welcomes a range of speakers, from the Governor and General Assembly members to Congressional Delegation and other notable figures. They all come to discuss policies that impact Rhode Islanders.

Each event includes not just admission, but also a full buffet breakfast. It’s a great chance for attendees to network before and after the main program.

The upcoming event will be held at the Pell Center, 518 Bellevue Avenue in Newport. There is free parking on-site, but you must register in advance through the Newport Chamber’s website.
