The Newport Restoration Foundation is on the hunt for nominations for its 2025 Doris Duke Historic Preservation Awards. These awards shine a spotlight on top-notch efforts to preserve the cultural and historic character of Newport and nearby communities.
Working hand-in-hand with the City of Newport, this yearly award program aims to celebrate projects that carry on Doris Duke’s legacy of philanthropy. Got a project in mind? You’ve got until May 2, 2025, to get your nomination in.
To be in the running, projects need to have wrapped up within the last three years or be ongoing programs in Newport, Jamestown, Middletown, or Portsmouth.
The foundation has a soft spot for projects that showcase craftsmanship, help train the next wave of preservation experts, or tackle issues like resilience and energy efficiency.
They’re also keen on projects that excel in proactive upkeep, make a visible difference in the community, or address local needs.
The winners will get their moment in the spotlight at an awards bash on September 5, 2025.
