For four decades, Russ Partridge has served the homeless community, from Crossroads in Providence to the WARM Center in Westerly, where he has been executive director for 17 years.
He has earned a reputation statewide for the work he has done, the expertise he has shared, and as a voice for those silenced by poverty and homelessness.
Over the last couple of years, WARM has added a family shelter at URI, and the Welcome House in Wakefield. Over the 17 years, paid staff and annual budget more than tripled.
Russ is a regular on the Morning Show on WBLQ, hosted by me (Frank Prosnitz), and this morning announced his retirement from WARM, but certainly not from the social services community.
Here is an excerpt from this morning’s segment, and he reaches into his soul, telling his personal story, and what has motivated him to work in this community for 40 years.
