The Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority (RITBA) is planning lane closures on two local bridges for the week of February 16-22, 2025.
Drivers using the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge should expect alternating lane closures in both directions from February 18 to 21. Westbound lanes will be affected from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while eastbound closures are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. These closures are happening near the former toll plaza.
On February 21, the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge will have its westbound right lane closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Good news for those using the Route 138 Connector, Mount Hope Bridge, or Sakonnet River Bridge – no lane closures are planned during this time.
RITBA is responsible for these four major bridges, as well as Route 138 through Jamestown and ten smaller bridges connected to the highway and bridge approaches.
Keep in mind that this schedule might change. For the latest updates, check RITBA’s Real Time Traffic Updates page at http://www.ritba.org/travel-alerts or follow @RIEZPASS on X (previously known as Twitter).
