The Museum of Newport Irish History will present the fourth talk of its 23rd Annual Lecture Series on Monday, February 24 at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom.  

Dr. Scott B. Spencer, Assistant Professor of Musicology at  the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, will give a talk titled “Traditional Irish Music and Irish-American Identity at the Dawn of the Recording Age.”

This presentation, which includes historic musical recordings, will discuss the past century of traditional Irish music and its impact on Irish and Irish-American identity and community.

There is no fee to participate, but reservations are required to receive the Zoom login information.  

The lecture is made possible by a generous gift from Margaret Armstrong Murray, given in memory of her husband, Vincent J. Murray.
