The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center (MLK Community Center) this week announced the launch of a new program for families in Newport County.
The Kids’ Wonder Lab will support families with children aged 18 months to 4 years old.
According to the MLK Community Center, the program aims to enhance socialization and promote crucial development at this early stage in life through immersive play.
Beginning March 3, the Kids’ Wonder Lab will be held at the Center every Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is offered free of charge.
The immersive activities include playing with sensory and light tables, kinetic sand, painting, playdough, music, stories, and free play. Through these sensory experiences, children will develop skills in language, problem-solving, cognitive skills, fine motor skills, creativity, and emotional regulation. The program is funded by the generosity of the Bazarsky Family Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting educational opportunities in the community. “
It is exciting that The Kids’ Wonder Lab will give children and their parents the ability to explore and learn together. We are delighted to partner again with the MLK Center to make this program possible,” said Carol Bazarsky.
Heather Hole Strout, the Executive Director of the MLK Community Center, added, “We are so thankful to the Bazarsky Family Foundation for helping us provide this type of early childhood enrichment at the Center, at no cost. Every family should have access to programs like the Kids’ Wonder Lab that build strong foundations for their child’s educational and social development.”
