IYRS School of Technology & Trades now offers an interactive virtual tour of its marine trades and advanced technology campus. This digital experience gives prospective students and industry partners worldwide a chance to explore the school’s facilities from anywhere.
Launched on Feb. 7, 2025, the virtual tour showcases 10 key areas including the marina, wharf, welcome center, maritime library, and workshops. It’s available on the school’s website and through the YouVisit virtual experience platform.
“IYRS attracts students from across the country and the world,” said IYRS President Kern Maass. “For some, touring the school in person prior to attending is impractical. While there’s nothing like experiencing the cedar scent of Restoration Hall in person, the virtual tour comes pretty close to giving the experience of touring our campus.”
The tour lets visitors interact with videos and photo galleries at various stops. Students can hear interviews with lead faculty from all four IYRS programs: Boatbuilding & Restoration, Composites Technology, Digital Modeling & Fabrication, and Marine Systems.
“This week we signed up a new industry partner who hadn’t been to campus in over 10 years,” said IYRS Director of Philanthropy Liz Isdale. “From viewing the virtual tour, they were surprised to learn how our campus had evolved and everything that’s now offered at the school to steward the marine trades workforce of tomorrow.”
IYRS programs range from six to 20 months and include externships. In 2024, 90 percent of IYRS graduates found jobs right after finishing school, with nearly 80 percent receiving financial help.
The virtual tour can be viewed at iyrs.edu as well as https://www.youvisit.com/tour/139527/144564/.
While the virtual tour gives a thorough look at the campus, IYRS still welcomes in-person visits and offers self-guided tours for those who want to see it firsthand.
