Rhode Island is dealing with the aftermath of a snowstorm that’s left parts of the state under up to 4 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service in Boston reports snowfall totals across Rhode Island ranging from less than an inch to 4 inches as of early Monday.

Richmond saw the highest accumulation, with 4 inches of snow by late Sunday night. West Warwick and Bristol weren’t far behind, recording 3.8 inches and 3.2 inches by late Sunday night respectively.

Providence (Warwick) got a solid 2 inches as of late Sunday night, according to the official measurement at T.F. Green Airport.

Coastal areas didn’t see as much snow, with North Kingstown only getting about 0.8 inches as of late Sunday night. As of 11 pm on Sunday, Newport was reporting 2.5 inches.

The storm swept through Sunday night into early Monday, making the morning commute tricky for many.

While the snow is expected to taper off Monday morning, the National Weather Service warns that roads could remain slippery throughout the day as temperatures hover near freezing.

The forecast for Newport County for the next couple of days is as follows;

Partly sunny through mid morning, then becoming sunny, with a high near 27. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 14. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

Tuesday

Increasing clouds, with a high near 22. West wind 8 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night

Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -3. West wind 8 to 11 mph.

Local officials are asking residents to be careful when traveling and to make sure they clear snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways.
