Things aren’t slowing down at all on the local music scene, with a wide variety of concerts scheduled over the next three months ranging from indie-rock to classical. Here’s a statewide rundown of some notable shows coming your way over this winter season.

Ragged Island Brewing brings back the popular Barn Sessions with shows highlighting local artists beginning with the DMB Project on January 4, Dudemanbro on January 11, David Tessier All-Star Stars on January 18, and additional shows all winter long. Check the complete schedule here.

Jane Pickens Film and Events Center continues to bring great music to Newport with a couple of special ones coming up in March. On March 9, don’t miss Grammy and Emmy-nominated violinist and composer Máiréad Nesbitt, a founding member of Celtic Woman. Head back to Pickens on March 28 for the soulful sounds of singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, best known for his Grammy-winning classic “Walking in Memphis.”

Newport Classical has a busy season ahead, with four concerts over the next three months. All concerts are held at the Newport Classical Recital Hall, 42 Dearborn Street in Newport. Here’s the lineup:

January 24: Telegraph Quartet performs Beethoven

February 14: Boyd Meets Girl

February 28: Trio Karénine performs Schubert and Dvořák

March 31: Oboist James Austin Smith in Recital

Providence Performing Arts Center

Jason Isbell has established himself as one of the leading songwriters of the 21st century. He’ll be playing “An Intimate Evening with Jason Isbell,” a format that allows the singer to share songs and stories, at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, February 18. And in March, PPAC hosts leading Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra on March 12.

The Vets

Country star Brett Young also heads to Vets for a show on Saturday, February 22 on his “Back to Basics” tour.  and Belfast, UK-based Shamrock Tenors stops by on March 16, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic has a busy winter season beginning with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (Eroica) behind guest conductor Robert Spano on January 18,  Ravel’s Bolero with conductor Anna Handler on February 15, and Gershwin’s popular Rhapsody in Blue on March 15.
