The R.I. State Council on the Arts (RISCA) and Rhode Island Humanities (RI Humanities) have joined forces to celebrate Arts and Humanities Month throughout October. The Councils will host a series of programs, webinars, and events centered around the theme “Culture: A Beacon of Resilience.”

This year’s theme highlights the power of arts and culture to guide and support communities during uncertain times. The programming aims to explore how culture can serve as a beacon of resilience and navigate the ever-present challenges faced by the sector.

Elizabeth Francis, Executive Director of Rhode Island Humanities, added, “Rhode Island Humanities is proud to partner with RISCA to serve the state’s vibrant cultural sector. Cultural organizations in communities across RI serve as beacons of knowledge and creativity, attracting neighbors and visitors alike to learn and make connections with each other.” The collaboration between RISCA and RI Humanities extends beyond October’s programming. Both Councils are dedicated to providing ongoing support to the arts, culture, and humanities communities through various tools, policies, and resources.

RISCA and RI Humanities will host a diverse range of events throughout October and November. These events include a webinar on risk assessments and emergency preparedness for cultural institutions, an Arts and Health networking event, and a panel discussion with New England-based arts and humanities grant makers. For a complete list of programs and registration details, please visit the RISCA and RI Humanities websites: www.arts.ri.gov and www.rihumanities.org.
