The Tiverton Public Library is hosting a free event that will teach people about the importance of seed saving and how to do it.

The program, which is open to all ages, will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 2 pm, and will take place in the library’s Native Plant Demonstration Garden or in the Community Room, if it rains.

Uri Master Gardener Sheila Sullivan will talk about the importance of native plants and how to collect and save seeds. She will also discuss how seeds can be donated to the library to be shared with neighbors through the new statewide Grow RI Native Seeds (GRINS) program.

GRINS is made possible in part by a grant from the RI Office of Library and Information Services using funds from the Institute of Museum and Library services. The program aims to empower Rhode Islanders to grow and champion native plants through seeds and information resources organized by their local libraries.

The Tiverton Public Library is committed to providing resources that support personal growth and community enrichment. The GRINS program is part of that mission, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this free event to help people learn about such an important topic.

All are welcome to participate in this free event.
