Sara Roger and Middletown-based A-1 Roofing and Construction were recently recognized by the local non-profit Looking Upwards for their exceptional community goodwill.

They were among several dozen individuals and businesses honored for demonstrating outstanding commitment to vibrant, satisfying lives for people with disabilities and children and youth with diverse needs.  

Named Looking Upwards’ Volunteer of the Year, Sara Roger was honored for her warmth and generosity in leading a weekly history walk. A long-time volunteer in the disabilities community, Sara reached out to Looking Upwards while on a tour of Duty with the War College. Weekly she researches historical events of interest, and creates an engaging guided walk that is fun, informative, and very popular.  Her skill, energy and enthusiasm have enriched the lives of individuals participating at Looking Upwards.   

A company with incredible community spirit, A-1 Roofing and Construction of Middletown was recognized with one of Looking Upwards’ Community Partner Awards.

The company has made every effort to support Looking Upwards’ mission.  Owner and President Sean Napolitano and his wife, comptroller Andrea Napolitano, are known for giving back to the community. They have found ways to support Looking Upwards and the individuals participating in the agency’s services at every turn possible.

Willie Culpepper was also acknowledged for having received statewide recognition for the quality of his work through the Community Provider Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI), as the Looking Upwards’ recipient of a CPNRI Direct Support Professional Award. 

Ryan Belmore is the owner and publisher of What's Up Newp. He took over the publication in 2012 and has grown it into a three-time Rhode Island Monthly Best Local News Blog (2018, 2019, 2020). He was named LION Publishers Member of the Year in 2020 and received the Dominique Award from the Arts & Cultural Society of Newport County the same year.
