The Newport Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying an individual who was involved in an incident at Newport City Hall on Thursday, August 15.

The incident occurred during the Newport Energy and Environment Commission’s panel discussion on “Offshore Wind Development Off of Aquidneck Island & Newport County.”

Newport Police shared the following on Facebook and Instagram;

“Newport Police Detectives need your help…if you recognize the individual in these photographs, please call Detective Jack Billings at 401-845-5751 or by email at jbillings@cityofnewport.com. This is in regard to an incident that occurred on 08/15/2024 during a public meeting at the Newport City Hall. Thank you for your assistance.”

  1. Why was this man not escorted out of the building by police. If it was at Town Hall there had to be an officer there during a public meeting. The chair should have halted the proceeding in immediately and called the police. Why was the chair trying to explain themselves to this man he didn’t deserve an explanation.

  3. The video shows a piece of paper shoved between the glasses of the woman in her eye and the intimidation of a senior citizen. The woman was forced backward across the table, forced to leave the meeting. As of August 21 multiple social media posts on facebook and X showing more pictures of the guy and who he is. He also looks to appear in a political advertisement will he get special treatment
