Gallery Sitka has announced that it will host an “Art with Intention II” exhibition featuring 15 National Association of Women Artists—MA Chapter artists. The opening reception and celebration on Sunday, August 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. is free and open to the public.

The show features multi- and mixed mediums, such as varnish, pigment on wood panel, encaustic, fiber, acrylic, oils, watercolor on handmade paper, acrylic painting over hand-pulled acrylic mono-print, collage-print, mixed papers, and marker on Arches board. Many of the artists will attend the reception.

The Newport Gallery is located on the corner of Spring and Franklin Streets. The show will be displayed through September 4.

Jennifer Jean Okumura, exhibit organizer and president of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc. (NAWAMA), shared, “Art enhances the story and the space we live in. Our Art, our story, restores the harmonious balance in times of much-needed healing, our new, continuous love, and the human spirit of hope, and the world comes to life—a jolt of energy, esse, community, and love. ‘Art poses a question, and Creativity understands the answer.’”

The show is juried by Tamar Russell Brown, Managing Owner of a 20-year woman-owned and operated Sitka Creations® LLC, a Branding/Social/WebDev Design Studio based in NYC, MA, and RI. Tamar stated, “Gallery Sitka is super proud to host NAWAMA. As we see, powerful women can move mountains. The realm of the arts is no different. The NAWAMA Chapter is filled with talented and successful female artists, and we are honored to host them in our Newport gallery. We invite the public to join us and to feel inspired by what they will see on our walls during August 2024!”
