According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), Newport residents should expect minimal travel disruptions and some overnight work in the area of the Pell Bridge approaches from August 17 to 23, 2024.

Mobile operations sitewide around the Pell Bridge Approaches will occur with minimal impact on traveling to wrap up outstanding electrical and signage installation tasks.

From 8 pm to 6 am Tuesday night, the JT Connell Connector, from Route 138 to JT Connell Highway, will have alternating lane closures for barrier installation – shifting lanes to the left to conduct drainage work.

Valley Road in Middletown, from Johnny Cake Hill to Aquidneck Ave, will have a left shoulder closure on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tree removal.
