The highly anticipated summertime art show, aptly named Artini this year, returns to Top of Pelham on Tuesday, July 23rd, from 6 PM to close. Curated by local talent Rian McCarthy, this vibrant art show promises an evening of creativity, community, and live entertainment.
Artini began as a platform for local artists to showcase their work while offering a fun and engaging social experience for attendees. With its community-focused and inviting atmosphere, Artini is designed to be approachable for everyone, whether they have a deep interest in the arts or are simply looking for an enjoyable evening out.
This year’s event will feature six artists, each bringing their unique perspective and creations to the public including Corey Jonze, SierraLuna, Lily McCarthy, Jimmy McCaffery, Alexa Winter, and host Rian McCarthy.
“I’m lucky to have grown up here and I have felt so supported by the local community. It’s truly a team effort, from the team at Pelham, to the participating artists, my girlfriend Calem Robertson who worked on the poster design and our merch, and my sister Lily McCarthy who has helped out with a lot of the planning around the event itself,” McCarthy told WhatsUpNewp.
McCarthy, an Aquidneck Island native who has recently moved to New York to further his art career, is thrilled to return to his roots and host this annual celebration of local talent. His passion and intention behind Artini are clear: to create an inclusive space where art can be appreciated by all.
Giving back is also a priority at Artini and 10% of all art sales will be going to the Friends of Newport Skatepark fundraising efforts. “Skating is a great creative and athletic outlet, I really appreciate the group that was able to bring that to our community and felt that a contribution to them from our sales was appropriate,” said McCarthy.
Adding to the festive ambiance, the Z-Boys will be performing live, ensuring that the Top of Pelham is filled with great music and good vibes alongside the stunning artwork.
Tickets for Artini are available for $15 in advance via EventBrite and $20 at the door. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in Newport’s vibrant art scene, support local artists, and enjoy an evening of community and creativity.
